Title: Making a Disappearance

Choreography/Performance: Vasilis Maltampes, Erifili Mikropoulou

The duet Basso_Continuo consists of Vasilis Maltampes and Erifili Mikropoulou, two performers who are working on the relationship between baroque sound and contemporary dance. Their inspiration is drawn from symbols of mythology, connected to love & death, the journey from darkness to light, loss & mortality. These symbols, coming from ancient mythology, and rebirthed in early renaissance, are defined by their simplicity and pithiness. Following the idea of basso continuo, a musical term that refers to a bassline in baroque music, embodying the straight line of life declining during the passage of time, returning to the earth, the duet explores movement in a contemporary way, inspired by Barcelona’s old streets, working on site-specific performing as well. At Capaqui Dansafest 2025, they will present their performance “Making a Disappearance”, a dialogue between Orpheus & Euridice and Kafka & Milena, the concept of lost love and absence.

Title: Alice

Choreography/ Performance:Myrto Krasaki

Alice was created as a solo performance, inspired by the narrative of the character Alice in wonderland. It is a story of how the eyes of a child can imagine different worlds, full of magic and innocence. During the journey of becoming older, the performance explores the boundary between childhood play and the internal conflict generated by social imposition, roles and identity. The public space, with its silent memory functions as a living stage. History is incorporated into the performance as “voices” that haunt the body, as Alice finds herself in a vulnerable state of fighting with her own identity,  from physical lightness to mental heaviness. Where does childhood remain into the changing body of the adult?

Title: Sirenas

Choreography/Performance: Stella Nasiakou, Ioanna Gkotzampougiouki

Sirenas is a contemporary dance duet conceived for public spaces, specifically in proximity to water (fountains, lakes, or seaside locations). Drawing inspiration from the mythological figures of the Sirens and Circe (Kirki), ancient Greek goddesses associated with water, love, and death, the piece explores themes of feminine transformation, memory, and rebirth. The choreography is a symbolic ritual, where two female performers, two bodies, interact with a blue fabric that evokes the image of a fish tail. Based on the non verbal communication and trust between the bodies, the performers enter into an intimate sharing. Their actions merge with the surrounding landscape, creating a dialogue between body and environment, while a soundscape of water enhances the sensorial experience. Sirenas is a poetic exploration of the vulnerability of the human body, the intimacy of the connection, the power of sharing that transforms time and space. The piece aspires to evoke a ritual of sisterhood, that invites us to emerge to a world where the pleasure, the caring and the embodied presence are the compass to relate with other human and non-human beings.
